Air / air compressors are devices that convert electricity (using electric motors, diesel or gasoline, etc.) to potential energy stored in pressurized air (ie, compressed air). By one of several methods, an air compressor forces more and more air into the storage tank, increasing the pressure. When the tank pressure reaches the upper limit of the air compressor closes. Compressed air, then, held in the tank until called to use. The energy contained in compressed air can be used for a variety of applications, utilizing kinetic energy from the air as it is released and the tank depressurizes. When the tank pressure reaches the lower limit, the air compressor lights up again and re-pressurizes the tankPositive displacement
A positive-displacement compressor works by forcing air into a space of reduced volume to compress air. Common types of positive displacement compressors are: -
Piston-type: Air compressors use this principle by pumping air into the air space through the use of constant piston motion. They use a one-way valve to guide air into the cylindrical chamber, where air is compressed. [1]
Rotary screw compressor: uses positive-displacement compression by matching the two helical screws that, when turned on, air guides into space, whose volume decreases as the screw changes.
A propeller compressor: using a slotted rotor with varying blade placement to guide air into space and compress the volume. This type of compressor provides a fixed volume of air at high pressure.Application
Portable air compressor powering aids, such as jackhammers
Air compressors have many uses, including: supplying high-pressure clean air to fill gas cylinders, supplying moderate clean air pressure to the surface supplied submerged divers, supplying moderate net air pressure to driving multiple office valve systems and school buildings pneumatic HVAC control, supplying large quantities Moderate air pressure for pneumatic power tools, such as jackhammers, for filling tires, and for generating large volumes of moderate air pressure for large-scale industrial processes (such as oxidation for petroleum coke or bag housings cement house cleaning systems).
Most air compressors either reciprocating the piston type, rotating propeller or rotary screw. Centrifugal compressors are common in very large applications. There are two main types of compressor air pump: lubed oil and oil-less. The oil-less system has more technical development, but is more expensive, harder and lasts for less time than lubed oil pumps. The oil-less system also provides better air quality.
The most common types of air compressors are: electric or gas / diesel-powered compressors. The compressor strength is measured in HP (Horsepower) and CFM (cubic feet of air per minute). The size of the tank gallon tells you how much compressed air "in the reserves" is available. Gas / diesel-powered compressors are widely used in remote areas with problematic access to electricity. They are noisy and require ventilation for the exhaust gases. Power-powered compressors are widely used in production, workshops and garages with permanent access to electricity. General workshop / garage compressor 110-120 Volt or 230-240 Volt. Compressor shape tanks are: "pancake", "twin tank", "horizontal", and "vertical". Depending on the size and purpose of the compressor can be stationary or portable
